Exploring ACT Peer Consultation Groups:

Sharing Practices, Perils and Progress

Facilitator: Michael Vurek, LCSW

Tuesday January 15, 2019

7:00 - 9:00 PM

UCSF/Mt Zion, Room H3805

Many of us have experienced some form of practice with ACT processes, whether at workshops or in consultation groups led by ACT trainers or where leadership is shared by peers.  Some of us are finding that peer consultation groups that follow a format emphasizing skill building, such as what has become known as the "Portland Model" (http://portlandpsychotherapytraining.com/acceptance-and-commitment-therapy-peer-clinical-consultation-group/) is an effective and economical way to improve our ability to move processes in our work with clients.

In this mini-workshop we will be learning from each other about what happens in peer led groups, what works well and what problems to watch out for.  We will experiment with some abbreviated practice sessions and do some skill building before the evening in done!

Don't come prepared to discuss a problematic case, but do come prepared to explore the edges of your skills in moving ACT processes.

If you are currently participating in a peer consultation group, please come and share your experiences.
