**************

How often do we find our clients beating themselves up for anything and everything they do, think, and feel?  And how helpful is this really?  In this workshop, Ellis will explore why we tend to beat ourselves up, push ourselves, and speak harshly to ourselves.  He will offer metaphors and techniques for relating to the inner critic as well as self-compassion exercises to teach clients in session and with ourselves.  He will explore how self-compassion fits into the ACT model and why self-compassion works so well with anxiety and depression.

Ellis Edmunds is a licensed psychologist with a private practice in Oakland, CA.  He specializes in using ACT to help Bay Area professionals struggling with anxiety, depression, and relationship issues.  He is passionate about mindfulness and self-compassion practices and gives workshops on mindfulness for teachers and employees.  He has also created two ACT games: The Mindful Bus and Drop the Rope.  In his free time you can find him playing basketball, Taiko drumming, and enjoying time with his family and friends.
