Dear SF Bay Area ACBS Community,
We recognize that the past several months have been a trying time for many, with the COVID-19 pandemic and incidents of police brutality and racism. We imagine that many of you have been focusing on caring for loved ones and clients amid these challenges. We would like to take time to come together as a community and focus on taking care of ourselves as therapists and people. To this end, we are pleased to announce an upcoming, free workshop, Healing the Healer: Mindfulness and Self-Compassion for Therapists on Thursday, August 6th 6:30pm-8:30pm PT over Zoom. We will gather together to practice mindfulness and self-compassion and discuss our experiences in small groups.
The mindfulness and self-compassion practices will be guided by SF Bay Area ACBS board member Emily Wharton, M.S. Emily is an incoming Psychology Intern at Palo Alto Veterans Affairs from the PGSP-Stanford PsyD Consortium. She has facilitated a Mindfulness for Employee Self-care four-part training series at Seneca Center, and has provided guest lectures on ACT for Anxiety Disorders and OCD, ACT for Mood Disorders, ACT for Anxiety in Veterans, Mindfulness for Children, Emotionally-Focused Therapy for Couples, Group Trauma-Focused CBT, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Emily has published papers and book chapters on ACT for PTSD, ACT for moral injury, mindfulness practices for anxiety disorders, and group trauma-focused CBT for parents of preterm infants.
We are looking forward to connecting with you all!
Also, a few spots are still available for our upcoming DNA-V training with Dr. Louise Hayes on August 21-22, register here:
